The Routes

The 2025 edition of the Ribble Valley Ride incorporates three routes: 25, 50 and 70 miles. All three routes explore the Bowland area of Lancashire, which is designated as 'National Landscape' formerly known as AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), but you get the idea – it’s scenic and lovely!

All routes are on public roads and pass through beautiful countryside, where stunning views and numerous charming little villages crop up along the way, including Slaidburn and Chipping, where food stops and toilet facilities are located. Riders will enjoy the company of the rivers Ribble, Hodder, Loud and Brock, and will ride alongside parts of the Duchy owned Whitewell Estate and a well-known hotel owned by HRH.

The 25-mile route is gentler in terms of topography and suitable for most riders of moderate ability and for those who would like a more social type of ride. The longer routes are more challenging, intended for those with greater degrees of fitness and stamina and just creep into North Yorkshire for a mile or two before returning into the Red Rose County. As a new addition this year, the 50 and 70 mile routes will include an optional hill climb (Hall Hill) as used in the Tour of Britain Cycle Race, for those so inclined.

We can’t promise good weather, but we can guarantee three great routes, good fun and the usual much acclaimed food stops. What’s stopping you? Get it booked now and make sure of your place.

All three routes will be fully signposted from start to finish. The general rule is to stay on the road you’re on, without turning off, unless our signs instruct you otherwise.

Normally (unless to make the correct route absolutely clear) there will not  be a sign at junctions where you don’t turn off the road you’re on. Our signs will be clearly marked ‘RIBBLE VALLEY RIDE’, and there will be colour coding with BLUE markers on the 60 mile route and GREEN markers on the 25 miler. On roads used by more than one route, there will be more than one colour – simple!

Please be prepared, however, for signs being tampered with. We will do our utmost to avoid this, but it remains your responsibility to follow the correct route.
